Here is the joke:

When people, be they clerics or laymen, do things that are reprehensible society will take sides most prudent to their own sensibilities. (Be they good or bad)

Case in point:

Rorate Caeli is constantly blamed for posting things of a controversial nature.  Many claim that such posts are only divisive, leading to scandal and disregarding the virtue of prudence in their publishing efforts.  Now, to be sure, Rorate has been guilty of posting things that might have been done imprudently, but if we are being honest they have been dead on time and time again with their posts, even the ones that are controversial in nature (consider the "mean spirited" "The Horror" post after Francis P.P. was elevated, was it really that off?)

In relation to the above photo, I have seen commentary elsewhere that rather than calling for charitable correction and prayers for these poor folks and this priest, instead blame Rorate Caeli for making this disaster know.  The excuses for it are mind boggling. Some say that Rorate Caeli only wants to cause trouble and that at least these kids are at mass, so a positive exists.

It is this minimalist attitude, this modern mentality that people need to be handled with kids gloves throughout their life that permeates everything!  Everyone demands mercy, they are glad to see Easter Sunday make its way around, but if Good Friday is mentioned those with the most to lose appeal to petty notions to excuse the inexcusable.  What does this say to the men in this photo?  Sure they may be present and graces might be had, but are they disposed to recieve them?  Im not judging but seriously?

We all want to yell and scream at everyone else and demand they change their ways.  Is it more prudent to keep such things under wrap, or to expose them?  This is a gray area.  We can agree that the sex abuse coverage has been overblown, but frankly we can be grateful that the media made it known.

If you have a disagreement with someone then take Matthew 15: 18 into account and directly address the "offender". But be willing to hear them out...

Pathetic Scandal...

Ok, so hold up for a second...

The documentary/movie "The Principle" will be released this year and Michael Voris of CMTV had the directors including one Mr./Dr. Robert Sungenis on his program to discuss the film and what they hoped for the project.

To be honest I thought the interview was boring, yet I am looking forward to the movie.

But the real story is how after the airing of the Mic'd Up the other night some in the Catholic blogosphere took it upon themselves to publicly proclaim the director (one Mr. Sungenis) the worst thing since unsliced bread.

You can go to Keatings facebook but I wont provide a link because the way everyone including the normalists (Keating, Shea and Armstrong) act is irrational and purely misguided causing scandal which they pretend to care about avoiding which you can see in my posts about Shea and Armstrong before.

I think its fair to say that Dr. Sungenis takes some odd positions on cosmology, the Jews [whether what he says is odd or bad or just not something people don't want to talk about in pious company is another thing] and the post concilliar pontiffs.  However the way that the normalists try to bash the documentary is pure iconaclism.  They have a box wrapped up nicely in their minds on such topics and are unwilling to part with them, nor will they hear the other side on the topics.  The same probably applies to Mr. Sungenis.  Why the normalists must destroy the movie by bringing up Bob's views on the holocaust is beyond me.  Credibility in the science realm can have many layers.

We know the universe is not heliocentric by its nature (proving Galileo wrong to begin with), the question becomes is it Geocentric or relative per the therm of relativity.  What good does it do to end the conversation by saying Bob thinks the number of Jew's killed during the haulocaust is less then six million?  What difference did it make the Williamson thought we didnt go to the moon or whether again six million Jews were killed during the holocaust in regards the regularization of the SSPX?  When did talk of such things become anathama and against the faith casting one outside the faith?  We wont be codemned for having odd thoughts on the holocaust, its just a mere fancy some use to cause division where the division is not needed from either side.

Whether the universe holds the Earth in a special place or in an indifferent place is important (perhaps not essential)

The Principle is putting forth info that no one outside the top level cosmologists know about because like the normalists most scientists have placed the study of cosmology in a neat box and put it on the shelf with a dont touch at any cost label.

Will the movie talk about theories that might put forth the possibility of Geocentrism, sure but that is not the purpose of the movie so much as looking specifically at the coprenican principle and seeing if its still relevent and holds true with the info we now have

Let the chips fall where they may normalists and trads alike.   PLEASE!

SO you know what im talking about here is the trailer... im going to watch it because it doesnt scare me to hear that Copernicus was wrong with his Theories and I dont subcribe to the Fr. Spitzer S.J. worldview where you can flip flop on issues at leisure (oh boy i just did the same thing the nominalists did)

Giving Scandal & Learning Humility

I have been troubled lately, and have been trying to learn humility in recognizing my wrongs.

I want to thank Terry for his recent thoughts on pride and on learning ones place through humility.

Today's Gospel in the ancient right was the parable where the King invites people to his sons wedding, but is shunned and his servants that are sent to bring the message are killed.  He later calls for people good and bad to be informed of his feast and to be invited.  At the feast the King then comes across someone not dressed properly for the wedding and casts him out of the feast to the darkness where there is wailing and mashing of teeth.

The more that I ask myself how I can change, the more I feel myself trying to remain complacent in my own pride.  I too often see my thinking as the most important thing.  I'm always quick to correct others, but that log is in my eye.  Looking at it just after Mass today I can again see myself as the man who is invited to the wedding feast but is dressed improperly, in other words my agenda is more important than the feast.

Im trying to find a way to be humble in my thoughts and deeds, while not going soft on truth.  And quite frankly it seems like an endless battle where I'm just trying to keep my head above water.

If I were asked after my conversion where I would be three years later I would have never thought I would be siding with the traditionalists.  I would much rather let things go on without injecting myself into it.  Im no scholor or theologian.  Im arrogant and self righteous...and I hate being called on the carpet for it.

I am the one wearing the clothing inappropriate for the wedding feast.  I cause scandal and drive others away.

I am taking a break not from writing or learning but from placing myself in any place of authority because my pride is far too troubling.

Please pray for me that I learn humility and do His will (which is love and mercy itself) and not my own (narcissism).

Having got that out of my system, I want to make you aware of some fantastic sermons I came across today.  I think you will find these to be fantastic and the way I'm pushing myself to be a better Catholic.
