What we know of Pope Linus

The following is taken from Charles Coulombes book "Vicar's of Christ: A History of the Popes"

ST. LINUS (67-76)

Linus came from Volterra, in Tuscany. Son of one Herculanus, his father ordered him to Rome. There he heard St. Peter preach the Gospel, and became a fervent Christian. His virtues, knowledge and zeal induced St. Peter to consecrate him bishop and choose him as a companion for his apostolic travels. St. Peter, when he went to Jerusalem to preside at first council, left Linus in Rome as his vicar. He was one of those in Rome saluted by St. Paul in 2 Timothy 4: 21. Returning to Rome, St. Peter entrusted to Linus an important mission in Gaul, centering on Besançon. There the bishop made numerous converts by virtue of his eloquent preaching. But a little after the persecution of Nero broke out, Linus returned to Rome in order to help Ss. Peter and Paul. When they were imprisoned, he replaced them in governing the Church, and was chosen by St. Peter as his successor (the only Pope to be so selected). He accompanied St. Peter to his martyrdom, and afterwards was helped by Saint Marcellus and some of the other faithful to bury him.

During his reign occurred many important events, among them the death of Nero, the destruction of Jerusalem (with its Temple, thus severing the Church’s last connection with Judaism) and the dispersion of the Jews, many of whom converted to the Christian faith. He wrote the Acts of Peter, particularly as regarded St. Peter’s dealing with Simon Magus. As Pope, he decreed, in keeping with the teaching of Ss. Peter and Paul, that women should cover their heads at worship, a tradition maintained until the 1960’ s. St. Linus performed many miracles: apart from raising a dead person to life, he was expert at casting out devils. On one occasion, he expelled the demon from a possessed girl who was the daughter of an ex-consul called Saturninus. Angered at his child’s subsequent conversion, the angry father had St. Linus imprisoned and then beheaded.

He was buried near St. Peter on the Vatican Hill. In Volterra, San Lino, a simple convent church with a single nave was built at the request of Raffaello Maffei on the site where St. Linus’s residence once stood. The high altar is surmounted by a wood panel of the Virgin and saints by Francesco Curradi, and the nave displays The Birth of the Virgin by Cesare Dandini (first half of the 17th century) and The Visitation of Elizabeth by Cosimo Daddi (1619). The presbytery houses the funeral monument of Raffaello Maffei executed by an artist from Fiesole, Silvio Cosini, in 1522.

Mentioned in the Roman Canon of the Mass, his feast in the Western Church is September 23, and in the Coptic rite July 1.

It is worth picking up the book and looking into what we know of the Pope's throughout history

Argument of the Month: Mark Shea vs Voris/Ferrara

So they posted this a while back, but for those of you that did not know The Argument of the Month Club in Minnesot-der-hey thankfully got around to posting the videos for the Shea v. Voris and Shea v. Ferrara debates.

I actually did think Mark did well in both debates even though I disagree with him at times.

I will post the link below because I want them to get a boost.  PLEASE, PULEEZE donate to this great apostolate!  Even if it a dollar it is appreciated I am sure.

E. Michael Jones: The De-Americanization of the Catholic Church

I dont agree with everything said herein, but it is interesting how Mr. Jones looks at the encyclical and so forth. Worth your time:

And as always I do think man is involved in climate change, God will punish us for our sins... for instance allowing the killing of children and the disording of the procreative act using contraception, (giving him the finger)

Breaking Luther: Gender fluidity flows from Martin Luther

It seems obvious to me that when we hear about people identifying as something other than what they are in reality, this result is from a central point in western history the protestant revolt.

Consider how a protestant considers the Church of Rome and papists therein apostates to the "true, simple faith Christ gave, whereby we are saved by faith alone".  Consider the subjective nature of this statement, who bound this other than each individual feeling it right, rather than knowing by any objective means that it is so.  If it feels right, if I get a warm feeling through my body, that must be the Holy Spirit confirming my thinking.  Objectivity was thrown to the side at the revolt. It was necessary to replace it with a system that would produce results, a system based on subjective interpretations.

How do they know every book within the canon of scripture is scripture?  "Well because 2 Timothy 3:16 says scripture is scripture"... Wait did they just use a text to approve of the same exact text? (circle arguement) Would they do the same for the koran or the book of mormon?  Both claim to be revelation. What is the objective reason you will point to in order to tell muslims and mormons they are in error following these texts?  Are you going to say 2nd Timothy says scripture is scripture?  How do you know 2nd Timothy was even written by Paul, or that its contents in an of themselves are God breathed?  Objectively, how do you know this?

If you reject the Church that can trace itself objectively to being founded by Christ through the laying on of hands, what objective reason do you have to make this decision? Is there some real miracle you can perform to confirm this? Can you trace your beliefs to the earliest Christians in totality?

You bemoan the homosexualist agenda, but you yourselves have given the greatest foundation to them in supporting the contraceptive lifestyle. (not apart from ungrateful Catholics of course) You want a sex life that affirms the pleasure of the action but eliminates the natural, objective order of pro creation... not that far from the homosexualist agenda.  You want sex for the pleasure without consequences, so do they.  This mindset disorders the very purpose of sex and objectively tells God (who gave this function and action to man) that you cannot trust his will when you take actions that have true ordering that is knowable even to the pagan mind.

How can one say they are followers of Christ but knowingly deny the very objective foundations that Christ established based on their subjective takes on a book put together by someone they deny... it didnt fall out of the air.

So what if some goofball gal thinks they want to be a man  and disorder their lives to their own desires.  Mormons do this everyday, they want to be called Christians but they deny that God is Three in one.  The faith alone folks will deny that they can lose their salvation, that repentance is unnecessary to go to heaven as long as they have faith.  That calvinists believe that God created people specifically to send them to Hell. By no means are we speaking of the same religion here, There is only unity through the grand massage of folks like Kasper and ecumaniacs (Cardinal Heenans word).  And that people have become so disordered that they think homosexuality and transgenerderism are ok because its all a matter of subjectivity... this gets placed squarely at the feet of the protestant error that denies the persons ability to come to a knowledge of truth. All is relative to to protestant mind necessarily.

I will leave you with a quote from Luther that best leads to the slow brain drain that leads to the Homoheresy and the mindless insanity of transgenderism

“Reason is a whore, the greatest enemy that faith has; it never comes to the aid of spiritual things, but more frequently than not struggles against the divine Word, treating with contempt all that emanates from God.”

Roy Schoeman: Conversion of the Jew's to the Catholic faith is necessary

Now the way in which the Church goes about this is a question of prudence and application difficulties.  For instance, at the First Vatican Council a few Jewish to Catholic converts spoke to the Pope about the need to make a point of bringing the Jew's into Christ's Church.

Pray for their conversion

Interesting points in the first talk:

Consecration of the Human Race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Most sweet Jesus, Redeemer of the human race, look down upon us humbly prostrate before Your altar. We are Yours, and Yours we wish to be; but, to be more surely united with You, behold each one of us freely consecrates himself today to Your Most Sacred Heart. Many indeed have never known You; many too, despising Your precepts, have rejected You. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw them to Your Sacred Heart.

You are King, O Lord, not only of the faithful who have never forsaken You, but also of the prodigal children who have abandoned You; grant that they may quickly return to their Father's house lest they die of wretchedness and hunger.
You are King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions, or whom discord keeps aloof; call them back to the harbor of truth and unity of faith, so that soon there may be but one flock and one Shepherd.

You are King of all those who are still involved in the darkness of idolatry or of Islamism; refuse not to draw them all into the light and kingdom of God. Turn Your eyes of mercy toward the children of that race, once Your chosen people. Of old they called down upon themselves the Blood of the Savior; may it now descend upon them a laver of redemption and of life.

Grant, O Lord, to Your Church assurance of freedom and immunity from harm; give peace and order to all nations, and make the earth resound from pole to pole with one cry: Praise to the Divine Heart that wrought our salvation; to It be glory and Honor forever. Amen.

Solzehnitsyn: Be careful with false calls for social justice

“For me and my friends, for people who think the way I do over there, for all ordinary Soviet citizens, America evokes a mixture of admiration and compassion...You're a country of the future, a young country, with yet untapped possibilities, enormous territory, great breadth of spirit, generosity, magnanimity. But these qualities--strength, generosity, and magnanimity--are usually combined in a man and even in a whole country with trustfulness. And this has already done you a disservice several times.

I would like to call upon America to be more careful with its trust to prevent those pundits who are attempting to establish fine degrees of justice and even finer legal shades of equality (some because of their distorted outlook, others because of short-sightedness, still others out of self-interest)to prevent them from using the struggle for peace and social justice to lead you down a false road. They are trying to weaken you; they are trying to disarm your strong and magnificent country in the face of this fearful threat -- one which has never before been seen in the history or the world. Not only in the history of the country, but in the history of the world."

SPLC Hate Map: 2016 edition

So I know you were egerly waiting for the map to be put up... trigger warning there are mean people listed on the map... people in the world but not of it.

The general map:

Oh, and then there is the Radical Traditional Catholicism Map... some interesting ones on there

'“Radical traditionalist” Catholics, who may make up the largest single group of serious anti-Semites in America, subscribe to an ideology that is rejected by the Vatican and some 70 million mainstream American Catholics. Many of their leaders have been condemned and even excommunicated by the official church. Adherents of radical traditional Catholicism, or “integrism,” routinely pillory Jews as “the perpetual enemy of Christ” and worse, reject the ecumenical efforts of the Vatican, and sometimes even assert that recent popes have all been illegitimate. They are incensed by the liberalizing reforms of the 1962-65 Second Vatican Council, which condemned hatred for the Jews and rejected the accusation that Jews are collectively responsible for deicide in the form of the crucifixion of Christ. Radical traditionalists are not the same as Catholics who call themselves “traditionalists” — people who prefer the old Latin Mass to the mass now typically said in vernacular languages — although the radicals, as well, like their liturgy in Latin. They also embrace extremely conservative social ideals with respect to women."

Chesterton on Skeptics

“Pride consists in a man making his personality the only test, instead of making truth the test. The sceptic feels himself too large to measure life by the largest things; and ends by measuring it by the smallest thing of all.” – The Common Man

Veritas Radio Network

Are you tired of Glenn Beck spouting americanism, and a false sense of patriotism based on his mormon ideas?

Are you tired of Sean Hannity claiming to be a good Catholic, even a former seminarian (thank the Lord its just former and went no farther). Yet he spouts opposition to official Church teaching.

Do you want a radio station that conforms itself with the truth? Why not listen to The Veritas Radio Network?

Mike Church has started his own radio network that prides itself on taking the teachings of the Church as the truth.  Brother Andre Marie of and many other hosts are putting out a great effort starting this network, but they need your help.

Tune into the Veritas Radio Network through their website HERE, or by going to The Official Mike Church Channel YouTube channel every weekday morning around 8am CST to watch the show.

Give it a shot, its worth the chance and its better then the heresies you will hear spouted on the Blaze, or Rush or Hannity.

Give it a shot, and if you like it subscribe!
