Forget Tolkien, the new controversy is whether Libertarianism is a heresy?

The Blaze
Just when you thought the Tolkien controversy was the greatest side stepping of real issues affecting the church today I give you this:

So on Saturday I came home from work and saw a story on the side bar of the blaze that made me laugh, then shake my head: Catholics Divided on Libertarianism as ‘Heresy’.  Ok so there is utter maddness about with the travels about of Cardinal Kasper, the generation from 18-23 year old actual Catholics being non existent, continued irreverence at least passively if not actively endorsed by Archbishop Gomez (at LA's education conference) or Pope Francis with Jesus Christ in plastic cups at world youth day.  There are so many things that are so much more important to this than trying to define libertarianism, which libertarians disagree with each other about to begin with, as heresy.

First if it is heresy then you have heretics not just identifying as progressives or consevatives, but actually quite a few traditionalists who are not prone to think only of post conciliar decrees as important would identify politically as libertarians.  People like Tom Woods (of How the catholic church built western civilization" book fame) and Judge Andrew Napolitano (who appears as a legal expert on many shows and makes it clear he is a pre-vatican II Catholic, which is confusing but he is not SSPX but probably more along the lines of FSSP).

If you read the Blaze article it brings up three articles written very recently by Michael Winters of NCReporter (aka fishwrap, aka that paper that John Allen wrote for knowing that the paper was heretical yet people treat him to this day like he is a good source, when he really knew he was feeding error, oh he even was endorsed by my Bishop to give a speech, oh Milwaukee you are useless).  The other is by Mark Shea (the ubber reactionary of neo-cons, Mark lets be real you are reading this) which is the article that outright condemns libertarianism as a heresy.  The final article I will post on this is one by Joe Hargrave entitled Mark Shea's Economic inquisiton (Which Mark Shea has been whining about ever since because hes being picked on... put on your big boy pants Mark. Consider asking Jimmy Akin to write a piece entitled "9 things to know and share about how writing posts that counter Mark Shea posts is dastardly")

I take no position on the matter of libertarianism probably because I'm a distributist and of the monarchial view on government.  By the way does anyone else find it odd that Mark Shea who writes for Heresy central (AKA Patheos, think about it, its pure indifferentism) is calling others out for being heretics.

Also I have put two videos below with differing view points on the matter for those interested in seeing the two views.

The first is by a seminarian in Canada who always puts about great YouTube videos.  His view is that libertarianism is not enough.

The second is by Tom Woods from his recent show where he tries to show how it is compatible with Christianity

I do think that we can agree that atheistic libertarianism espoused by the likes of Ayn Rand is devoid of compatibility.  There was an interesting article on how the satanist Anton LaVey was greatly encouraged by Rand's works and recommends her stuff for what its worth on the Acton blog.

Sex, Bureaucracy and Chesterton (I know that covers all the topics)

American Chesterton Society

The frightful punishment of mere sex emancipation is not anarchy but bureaucracy.” – GK Chesterton

Some think we should be grateful that Justice Sotomeyer [sic? i'm too lazy to check] for blocking the contraceptives mandate through injunction.  Forgive me for not politely applauding the judicial standstill that merely panders to appease rather than recognizing the grave evil that is at the basis of the mandates idealism.

Oh and since I'm hitting on Chesterton, the Holy Father Pope Francis quoted the Late great soon to be Servant of God on December 5th of 2013 saying the following as recounted on the vaticans website here:

The Pontiff then quoted the English author G. K. Chesterton (1874-1936), when speaking about heresy once said that a heresy is a truth, a word, a truth gone mad. “When Christian words lack Christ, they begin to head down the road of madness”. The prophet Isaiah, he added, clearly describes the nature of this madness. He says: “The Lord is an everlasting rock. For he has brought low the inhabitants of the height, the lofty city” (26:4-5). “The inhabitants of the height. A Christian word without Christ leads to vanity, to self assuredness, to pride, and to power for power’s sake. And the Lord brings these people low”.

On the Trial...and who is really at fault for the decline of the culture

It should not be a surprise that the verdict on Saturday came out as not guilty.  It seemed to most of us that there was no real evidence showing that Mr. Zimmerman had done anything illegal in a temporal or moral sense.  Yet for two nights now we get stuck with riots and general terror by people greatly upset with the juries verdict.  I found the following pictures online at the Daily Mail website showing conditions in New York, LA and so forth.  Being blunt this is pathetic, but its all part of the plan.

A while back I remember seeing a talk by former, then ousted, Green Czar Van Jones where he made a comment that a revolution was coming, that it would be Bottom up, Top Down and Inside out.  Now to most of us this seems like mere rhetoric and is generally poo-pooed as such.  Yet a couple people, generally associated with blogs or conservative outlets picked up on this immediately.   People like Glenn Beck (who I have posted the video below for) did his best to bring to the public knowledge of this plan, and to some extent I think we might have been helped.

Its not that this is the sign that we are in trouble.  Its only one thing in a laundry list of signs.  The Fabian Socialists were just on the tip of the era.  They wished to set the world a blaze so as to make it closer to their hearts.  Part of their plan included eugenics which was directly associated with the racist attitudes that most of them held.  Creating Race wars is just another way to promote division and confusion among people, and I don’t need to tell you the million news stories that are so prevalent just in the US alone.  It seems like there is so much to keep in mind that we are seriously in dire straits.

This Zimmerman case is just another show case to cause confusion and division and it is fueled by a media complicit in acting against life and the will of God made known in his Holy Catholic Church.  Mr. Zimmerman made a statement to the officer before even knowing Trayvon was dead that his Catholic faith made it clear the killing of another is always wrong (speaking of murder of course).
The complicit are abundant.

1.       The Media
2.       The Government
3.       The wealthy Progressives and Conservatives
4.       The ignorant masses
But in the end who is at fault?
Catholics.

That’s right Catholics.  Many Popes and Holy people like St. Bernadette of Lourdes noted that all the evil of the world is the fault of bad Catholics.  I confess that all to often I fall into this category.  My pride, my lustful desires, my thirst for worldliness too often clouds my sight and I fall.

I was thinking it is now time to really take my call to holiness seriously, not that I haven’t at times, but he calls us to be perfect and this scares us.  Dr. Peter Kreeft says that we are all called to be great saints but we hold ourselves back from this with worldly concerns.  For me its always wanting credit for my actions.  Too often I think my knowledge is grander then others and I want to set them straight regardless of how I do so.  Often times I am uncharitable and fall.  Lord grant me the grace of humility to live out a just life and be completely commited to your call of the Golden rule.  Help me to be mercy to the ignorant so as to enlighten them and bring them to you.  Let it no longer be me who lives, but you who lives in me.

Let us pray for Mr. Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin.  Let us particularaly pray for those Holy Souls in Purgatory for they are nearly home and our love for them as part of the Body of Christ is just like the loaves and fishes Christ was given.

Humility, Mercy, Trust.

Thank you for all the suffereings both of the mind and body O’ Lord, Your grace is sufficient.

For, Whatever be the will of the Lord, I trust in the’ oh God
