As you might have guessed today is the feast day of St.
Callixtus.

My missal reads the following about him:
“ St. Callixtus I, successor
of St. Zephyrinus, instituted the Ember-Day fasts, and provided for the
honourable interment of the martyrs. He himself suffered martyrdom under
Alexander Severus. A.D. 223
I for one confess that I have not partaken in “ember-days”
as of yet, but I do plan on starting to take these things a lot more seriously
considering the crisis that abounds in Holy Mother Church today.
