A note to the lukewarm

“All the evils of the world are due to lukewarm Catholics” – St. Pope Pius V

“All the strength of Satan’s reign is due to easygoing weakness of Catholics” – St. Pope Pius X

If he knocks how will you answer?
“Without this awareness of the before and after of which Paul speaks to us, our Christianity does not help anyone! More to this: it takes us on the road of hypocrisy. ‘I call myself a Christian, but live like a pagan!’ Sometimes we say ‘Christians at half-speed’, who do not take this seriously. We are holy, justified, sanctified by the blood of Christ: Take this sanctification and carry it forward! Though people do not take it seriously! Lukewarm Christians: ‘But, yes, yes , but, no, no’. Neither here nor there - as our mothers said, ‘rosewater Christians’ - no! A little touch here and there, of Christian paint, a little ‘paint catechesis’ - but inside there is no true conversion, there is no such conviction as that of St.Paul: ‘Everything I gave up and I consider garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him.’” – Pope Francis

So too I also found a tremendous sermon by St. John Vianney here.

The point?

Get off your lazy butt and call others home to Christ! (obvious).

Feasting with the Pontiffs

Today is a Monumental Feast Day in Holy Mother Church

In the Novus Ordo/OF we have the Feast of Pope St. Gregory the Great, who in the face of great struggles stopped the Lombards from Invading Rome and taught the Patriarch of Constantinople a thing or two about leadership when the Patriarch proclaimed himself the Universal Patriarch, the Pope responded by emphasizing himself as the servant of servants.

In the Ancient Rite/EF todays Feast is for Pope St. Pius X who was the first Pontiff since Pius V to be canonized.  Like St. Gregory, Pope St. Pius was a fighter and humble.  You will often hear people say he was a pomp monarchial dunderhead who paraded around as a Caeser above others.  Yet few realize his humility.  When he was presented with the Papal garb he felt over-whelmed, thinking it was too much for him, but rather than shunning it as a statement from a foregone era the Pontiff accepted the garb in humility so as not to lord over others, but for the glory of the office that Christ gave to Peter, to which he was fortunate and humble to find himself in.  So to when trouble was foaming in the church, specifically the hersey of Modernism, the Holy Pontiff took multiple measures to suppress those who wished to implement such evils within the church.

Both of these Pontiffs were fearless in their defense of the Church, often paying a high price for their actions.  Let us pray for Pope Francis, and for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI that they would not flee for the fear of the wolfs, but embrace the cross they have been given with joy and diligence.

Rorate on the SSPX and what went down last April

Wow...this makes me quite a bit more comfortable with what Francis has been doing in shaking things up a little...still disappointed with his liturgical emancipation garbage, but it will take another 2-3 generations before VII is recognized as being a legitamite council, but one in which the things taught held no real solid authority outside of the things already defined.  Many will say that I am over reacting, that I just refuse development of the faith, but this is a false assertion.  Things like Religious Liberty and the new ecumenical attitude where we dont raise Pius XII to the high altars because the Jews are not comfortable even after he single handidly saved more people of the Jewish race then anyone else in the world, or the placing of being nice to the Orthodox even to the extent of not condemning Communism outright (as what occured for the Russian Orthodox to attend VII).  In the End Her immaculate Heart will triumph, but this could have been easier.  Let us pray for those complicit in trying to build the faith on their own whims.

Pray for the Holy Father for he will face more pressure then we can even imagine...And of course pray for the SSPX that they would not become cold hearted to the Vatican prelates.
